Building Services 32BJ Benefit Funds ("the Funds") is the umbrella organization responsible for administering Health, Pension, Retirement Savings, Training, and Legal Services benefits to over 185,000 SEIU 32BJ members. The Funds oversees and manages $11 billion of dollars in assets, which are made up of many, varied and complex funds. The dollars come from a number of sources, including the property owners who pay into the funds on behalf of their employees, and as such, requires those who oversee and manage the money to be highly skilled financial management people.

Job Summary
The Employer Services Specialist II (ESS II) will be responsible for managing employer communications, education and technical assistance. The ESSII will act as a lead for Employer Services Specialist I's (ESS I). The ESS II will provide information to employers on all participant benefit plan changes, and any continuing participant benefit updates. The ESS II will provide information to employer on all benefit contribution rates, rules and policies. The ESS II will plan as well as participate in employer meetings (Employer Focus Group(s)), seminars, workshops, and one on one sessions, etc. The ESS II will research employee status and building account information; and contact employers as needed. The ESS II reports directly to the Manager of Employer Relations. The ESS II will work closely with the Director of Employer Relations, as well as other functional process owners as appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the timely onboarding of employers onto electronic reporting
- Communicate daily with employers using Electronic Reporting
- Report, track, and resolve all technical and data issues, including the maintenance of all electronic reporting systems
- Assist department manager with all critical issues that are assigned to Employer Relations
- Participate in and manage project work assigned to the department
- Act as a lead within the department and assist with training staff as required
- Coordinate and make presentations to employers
- Calculate remittance obligations and explain to employers
- Follow the workflow and processes of Fund operations as they relate to employers (Billing, Audit, Collections, Eligibility, and Contracts)
- Implement a comprehensive communications plan that provides timely information to employers about Trustees goals, and Funds initiative, actions and other valuable news, using multiple channels to deliver this information
- Implement external communications initiatives in a manner that maximizes use of all forms of communications, including and not limited employer advisories, employer meetings and presentations, employer broadcast and internet website
- Conduct educational seminars and workshops on and off site with employer groups
- Able to build relationships with a broad range of people
- Draft letters, memorandums, and educational materials
- Able to work as part of a team whether inter and/or intra departmental; as well as take a leadership role
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Director, Employer Relations
Qualifications (Competencies)
- The incumbent is expected to have at least 2 years' experience in employee and or employer communications/relations
- High School Diploma with commensurate experience in finance and/or public relations/communications preferred
- Arithmetic – 12th grade
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- A demonstrated capability and experience with relevant computer-based systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with, Access, presentation software and the Internet helpful
- High analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Flexibility with work schedule
