This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which comprises Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

About the Role

As part of a hardworking team of professionals, specialists, and engineers, you will develop strategic procurement solutions and complete day-to-day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of supply chain operations, driving organizational and policy change to enhance Blue Origin's bottom-line.

The Propellant Team SCA III will ensure program propellant and cryogenic/pneumatic system requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet Blue Origin's needs. This position requires competency in Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives, along with excellent oral and written skills, solid negotiation and communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage RFQ, RFI, and RFPs
  • Lead formal negotiations of all types (pricing, terms and conditions, scope of work, schedule, etc.)
  • Construct various contracting types for major procurement activities to meet program requirements and business needs, including continuous improvement initiatives and identification of opportunities for enhanced efficiencies
  • Take ownership of the procurement process from requisition creation through final payment of invoices and resolve issues within this process
  • Support the overall procurement organization's strategic direction and ensure corporate strategic objectives are achieved, including delivery of materials that are on time, within budget, and meet technical performance requirements
  • Lead identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (Long-Term Agreements, Vendor Managed Inventory) where mutually beneficial
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote
  • Perform cost analysis in support of proposals for propellant or similar commodity and system requirements
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead formal negotiations
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the supply chain department
  • Maintain compliant and accurate files and data records
  • Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations and monitor delivery schedules

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 7 years of experience OR Master's degree with 5 years of experience in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related specialty to supply chain management
  • Minimum 20% travel required
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies, procedures, work instructions, business standards, and U.S. government regulations (FAR, DFAR, SOX Compliance)
  • Knowledge of Propellant Market or similar commodity spot, micro, and bulk buys
  • Previous experience negotiating purchase of large and small-scale pressure vessels, cryogenic tanks, skids, tube banks, as well as leasing options
  • Knowledge in initiation, review, and negotiation of Riders, Leases, Rental Agreements, Long Term Agreements (LTSA), Master Service Agreements (MSA), and Production Service Agreements (PSA)
  • Background and purchasing experience with Bulk and Micro Bulk Propellants and Packaged Gases
  • Strong supplier management and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) maintenance
  • Strong analytical skills with data-driven approach and experience establishing and tracking program metrics
  • Must have top-notch people and communication skills
  • An eagerness to identify opportunities, find solutions, execute plans, and evaluate results critically and expediently
  • Highly analytical and critical thinker

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Current active DOD Secret Security Clearance and/or Special Access
  • Experience with Costpoint, Coupa, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Tableau, Databricks

Employment Requirements

U.S. Citizenship/Residency: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if role requires access to military installations
  • Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, and hazardous materials training if role involves operating Commercial Motor Vehicles with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), or combination meeting/exceeding 10,001 lbs. and/or transporting placardable amounts of hazardous materials
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential (including pre-employment and random drug testing and DOT physical) for certain job profiles
