About the Role
We are hiring an experienced and energetic Software Engineer II to join the Customer Experience (CX) / Support Experience Group (SXG) team.
We want you for your passion for technology, your curiosity and willingness to learn, your ability to communicate well in a team environment, your desire to make our team better with your contributions, and your ability to deliver.
We use industry-standard technology: C#, JavaScript/Typescript, React, Azure. It would be ideal for you to have a solid background in delivering experiences using an object-oriented language and web technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate scalable cloud services that power the various Support experience platforms, enabling collection, processing, and delivery of customer feedback data across multiple Microsoft support experiences.
- Own end-to-end feature delivery, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-production support, while maintaining high standards for quality, security, accessibility, and privacy.
- Drive service reliability and operational excellence through monitoring, observability, incident response, root cause analysis, automation, and participation in on-call rotations.
- Build and enhance integrations with platform dependencies and partner systems, ensuring seamless data flow, telemetry collection, reporting, and orchestration across the ecosystem.
- Lead engineering improvements in scalability, resilience, and compliance, including Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BCDR), security initiatives, and adoption of engineering best practices.
- Collaborate across product, engineering, and business stakeholders to onboard new scenarios, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and mentor junior engineers through design reviews and technical guidance.
- Provide technical leadership for critical platform investments, influencing architecture decisions, driving cross-team alignment, and delivering solutions that improve developer productivity, platform health, and customer experience.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, developing, and operating production services.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, Java, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Experience building cloud-native applications and services using Azure or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with distributed systems, REST APIs, databases, and modern software development practices.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering and product teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building and operating large-scale customer-facing SaaS platforms with high availability and reliability requirements.
- Experience with Azure technologies such as App Services, Service Fabric, Azure Front Door, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Key Vault, and Application Insights etc.
- Experience driving operational excellence through monitoring, observability, incident management, root cause analysis, and on-call support.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices, privacy, compliance, and resiliency engineering.
- Experience working with telemetry, analytics, customer feedback systems, or data-driven platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and engineering productivity tools.
- Proven ability to independently own features end-to-end and contribute to technical design discussions.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and applying automation to improve engineering efficiency and service health.
