About the Company

At PMI U.S., we are building a modern nicotine business—focused on helping make a future without cigarettes a reality in America. As the U.S. businesses of Philip Morris International, we are investing in new products, science, and capabilities to provide the approximately 25 million legal‑age adults who still smoke with better alternatives.

Our approach is rooted in innovation, responsible marketing, and a growing U.S. footprint that spans manufacturing, technology, and commercial operations across the country.

About the Role

We are looking for a Project Manager – Sr Manager to lead complex, cross-functional projects from initiation to successful delivery. In this role, you will establish strong governance, manage scope, plans, budgets, risks, dependencies, resources, and stakeholders, and ensure that projects deliver measurable business value in line with PMI standards. You will provide expert guidance and coaching to project teams, enable effective decision-making, and continuously improve project management practices across the organization.

Your Day to Day

  • Lead complex projects from initiation to closure, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, timeline, budget, quality, and business outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, including decision forums, stage-gate reviews, escalation paths, steering committee materials, and executive reporting.
  • Develop integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, resource plans, financial forecasts, and dependency maps in alignment with approved delivery methods and tools.
  • Manage project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and changes proactively, escalating material concerns with clear options and recommendations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, external partners, vendors, and subject matter experts to drive aligned execution and timely decision-making.
  • Monitor project performance through relevant KPIs, dashboards, budget tracking, benefits progress, quality measures, and delivery health indicators.
  • Ensure appropriate project documentation, controls, compliance evidence, and audit readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and functional leadership to project team members, building capability, accountability, collaboration, and delivery discipline.
  • Apply and promote PMI project management standards, tools, templates, and ways of working, including continuous improvement of methods and practices.
  • Support portfolio and leadership decision-making by providing transparent project insights, scenario analysis, and recommendations on priorities, trade-offs, and resource constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, engineering, finance, supply chain, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
  • Extensive experience in project management, preferably in a global, matrixed, regulated, or technology-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, vendors, budgets, and delivery workstreams.
  • Experience from ERP projects is required; experience with projects involving Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience guiding project teams, coaching project professionals, and influencing delivery outcomes without relying on formal line management authority.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, stage-gate delivery, financial management, risk management, resource planning, and performance reporting.
  • Relevant certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent project management qualification is preferred.

About PMI U.S.

PMI is an Equal Opportunity Employer. PMI is headquartered in Stamford, Conn., and its U.S. affiliates have more than 3,000 employees. PMI has been an entirely separate company from Altria and Philip Morris USA since 2008. Since 2008, PMI has invested $12.5 billion globally to develop, scientifically substantiate and commercialize innovative smoke-free products for adults who would otherwise continue to smoke with the goal of transitioning legal-age consumers who smoke to better alternatives. In 2022, PMI acquired Swedish Match – a leader in oral nicotine delivery – creating a global smoke-free champion led by the IQOS and ZYN brands. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has authorized versions of PMI's IQOS electronically heated tobacco devices and Swedish Match's General snus as Modified Risk Tobacco Products and renewal applications for these products are presently pending before the FDA.
