QA Engineer

About the role

Do you enjoy building robust automation frameworks that improve software quality at scale? Are you confident working across APIs, web, and cloud platforms to deliver high-quality solutions? Do you want to be part of a team that's shaping a culture of quality and continuous improvement?

As a QA Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality software by working closely with the QA Engineering Manager and wider technology teams. You'll be part of a collaborative, in-house QA function, contributing to testing across modern cloud-based platforms.

Your focus will be on automation-first testing, ensuring quality across the full technology stack—from web and mobile to APIs.

Key details

  • Location: Negotiable - Tewkesbury, Norwich, Exeter
  • Hours: Full Time - 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri
  • Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test plans and test cases based on product and technical requirements
  • Perform both manual and automated testing across web, mobile, and API layers
  • Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks
  • Support functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
  • Run performance and load testing, analyse results, and identify optimisation opportunities
  • Log, track, and prioritise defects, ensuring timely resolution
  • Embed testing in CI/CD pipelines and promote best QA practices
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product teams, and DevOps
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in QA processes

Required experience

  • Experience in a QA role with test automation
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub
  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g. Postman)
  • Programming/scripting knowledge in at least one language (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or C#)
  • Understanding of performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter, Gatling, or similar)

Desirable

  • ISTQB or similar QA certification
  • Cloud certifications (AWS / Azure)
