Corporate Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the Global Director, Finance and Accounting, the Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for the global consolidation of Safeguard's more than 20 legal entities, accurate and timely financial reporting, and oversight of the company's compliance with US GAAP. Ideal candidates will possess experience in corporate accounting within a global organization, particularly in consolidations, technical accounting research, and external financial reporting. This position also entails overseeing the annual external audit, managing both internal and external consolidated reporting, conducting technical accounting research, drafting white papers, and developing and maintaining Corporate Accounting Policies in alignment with US GAAP. A strong technical understanding of US GAAP is essential, along with the ability to research emerging topics, including the implementation of new accounting standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Partners with global finance leaders to facilitate the corporate close and consolidation process across all entities worldwide, which includes preparation, coordination, management, quality control, performance metrics, and timely delivery of consolidation results to stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Completes monthly consolidations across over 20 legal entities within a multi-currency, multi-system framework, which involves elimination entries and conducting analytical reviews of each entity's results for reasonableness.
  • Conducts technical accounting research and prepares white papers for the adoption of new accounting standards, expansion into new business areas, and significant transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures, and debt transactions.
  • Manages the integration of financial results from newly acquired entities into the consolidated financial statements of the global organization, ensuring compliance with purchase accounting and GAAP requirements. Acts as the primary contact for external valuation advisors regarding the valuation of acquired businesses.
  • Prepares annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, including the managing drafts, comments and version control of the document.
  • Oversee the annual consolidated external audit process and ensure the timely release of financial statements.
  • Maintains the accuracy of intercompany balances and proactively addresses discrepancies across global locations. Oversees related party agreements among international entities.
  • Partners with the accounting team to provide technical support, training, and guidance in monitoring and interpreting US GAAP standards as they pertain to external financial reporting for both local and corporate accounting teams. Manages the differences between GAAP and statutory reporting for international entities.
  • Prepares cash flow and equity roll-forwards on a monthly basis. Creates supporting documentation and ensures audit trails for all significant changes during the reporting period.
  • Oversees non-GAAP reporting and collaborates with FP&A, the Controllers, and business partners to identify, evaluate, and report on non-GAAP items.
  • Plays a key role in assessing, initiating, and implementing process improvement changes in Corporate Accounting. Assumes a leadership role to drive key initiatives within the group to success.
  • Collaborates with finance team and other stakeholders to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency of financial data in financial reporting. Promotes effective communication to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA certification is preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience is required.
  • Experience in public accounting, particularly with a big 4 firm, is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in global consolidations within complex organizational structures is a must, with experience in multiple functional currencies is required.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, including accounting for business combinations and other complex transactions, as well as required financial disclosures.
  • A comprehensive understanding of a robust Internal Controls framework is essential.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Dynamics D365 ERP system is advantageous.
