Since 1988, Durabuilt Windows & Doors has grown into one of Western Canada's premier manufacturers. Headquartered in Edmonton and recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, our success is driven by innovative products and the incredible people behind them. We are a team of thinkers and doers who care deeply about our customers and each other. If you are a passionate relationship-builder looking to contribute to a trusted Canadian brand, you'll feel right at home.

The Opportunity

Are you a senior technical expert who thrives at the intersection of robust architecture, team mentorship and strategic enterprise solutions?

We are seeking a Technical Lead – IMT Applications to join our on-site team in Edmonton. In this pivotal role, you will champion technical excellence, driving the architectural direction for enterprise systems built on .NET and Microsoft SQL Server platforms. You will bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and technical execution - designing scalable solutions, establishing modern development standards, and mentoring a talented, multi-level development team.

If you are passionate about shaping enterprise-grade ecosystems (including ERP, HCM, and custom applications) and want to make a tangible impact on operational efficiency, this is the courtroom for your expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Set the Standard: Lead technical design and architecture decisions for .NET applications and SQL Server database solutions across the enterprise. Define coding guidelines, SOLID principles, and development best practices.
  • Mentor & Elevate: Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentorship, and constructive code reviews for junior, intermediate, and senior developers.
  • Innovate & Validate: Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) development and technical spikes to validate new approaches, making critical "build vs. buy" recommendations for new initiatives.

Solution Design & Development

  • Architect Scalable Systems: Translate complex business requirements into robust technical specifications, modern API integrations, data models, and web services connecting our core platforms.
  • Optimize Data Landscapes: Design database schemas, stored procedures, and optimization strategies specifically for high-performance Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Oversee Deployments: Direct data migration strategies, ETL processes, performance testing, and production deployment readiness.

Enterprise Systems, Integration & Governance

  • Evaluate Vendor Tech: Lead the technical evaluation of enterprise platforms during RFP/RFQ processes, spearheading technical demos, API assessments, and vendor capability validation.
  • Connect the Ecosystem: Design integration architectures linking critical enterprise systems like ERP, HCM, and CRM platforms.
  • Guard the Infrastructure: Ensure all solutions comply with corporate IMT governance, security frameworks, data privacy requirements, and technology roadmaps.

Strategic Risk & Priority Assessment

  • Analyze Complexity: Estimate effort, assess technical debt, and identify performance bottlenecks to contribute technical perspectives to corporate business cases.
  • Advise Leadership: Partner with project intake committees to articulate technical trade-offs, architectural impacts, and resource capacity across competing priorities.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Skills

  • Deep .NET Expertise: 7+ years of hands-on software development experience with a heavy focus on C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, and the .NET Framework.
  • SQL Server Mastery: Advanced experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, T-SQL, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and SSIS/ETL.
  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading development teams, conducting impactful code reviews, and establishing technical standards.
  • Integration Experience: Proven track record designing RESTful APIs, Web APIs, SOAP, and middleware solutions.
  • Enterprise Vendor Evaluation: Experience evaluating technical architecture during RFP/RFQ processes and validating vendor platform capabilities.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business analysts, project managers, infrastructure teams, and executive stakeholders.

Technical Toolkit

  • Languages/Frameworks: C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core, .NET Framework, Web APIs
  • Database & Integration: MS SQL Server, SSIS, message queues, middleware, enterprise service bus patterns
  • Tools & Practices: Visual Studio, Bitbucket, SSMS, Agile/Scrum, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps principles
  • Authentication: Active Directory, OAuth, SAML, SSO integration

Assets (Nice to Have)

  • Experience working in manufacturing, distribution, or operationally complex corporate environments.
  • Hands-on technical integration experience with major ERP/HCM platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, Dynamics 365).
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce) and enterprise application integration patterns.
  • Knowledge of Databricks, data warehousing, or business intelligence platforms.
  • AWS cloud familiarity.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, ITIL, Agile/Scrum certifications).

Why Join Us?

We live by a set of core values that define our workplace:

  • Innovative: We are always looking to improve and create value.
  • Accountable: We stand behind our work, our people, and our brand.
