Position Summary

The Quality Engineer at Macurco, Inc. a DwyerOmega Brand, is responsible for developing, approving, and maintaining inspections, checks, and test methods that support the manufacturing process. This role ensures compliance with internal standards and quality requirements, evaluates organizational performance, and drives continuous improvement through effective collaboration within cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and break down specifications, standards, and technical documentation to ensure quality requirements are met on an as-needed basis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, and production teams to support quality objectives and operational success.
  • Develop, modify, implement, and maintain receiving, in-process, and final product quality control and quality assurance protocols for the conversion of raw materials into partially finished and finished products. Ensure all special process and component requirements are met.
  • Conduct internal Quality Management System (QMS) audits and coordinate with third-party registrars and customers to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable standards. Develop and implement inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to verify conformance to requirements.
  • Perform nonconforming product analysis and disposition, ensuring issues are documented and closed in accordance with QMS procedures.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions align with reliability standards and that all associated documentation meets compliance requirements.
  • Approve methods for collecting and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) data. Train and support staff in recording, analyzing, and acting on SPC results.
  • Maintain compliance with requirements related to material control and record retention, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with documented Quality Management System.
  • Develop and maintain quality performance metrics, analyze product and process data, and lead continuous improvement initiatives using quality engineering tools and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow established safe work practices, participate in required safety training, and promptly report unsafe conditions, near misses, or accidents.

Quality Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the Quality Policy and applicable elements of the Quality Management System relevant to assigned work areas.
  • Take proactive action to reduce, eliminate, and prevent quality deficiencies, including product or process escapes.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities related to products, processes, and quality systems.
  • Exercise responsibility and authority to identify quality concerns and elevate issues for timely resolution within the quality system.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain professional, constructive, and collaborative working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Essential and Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related industry with work experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop clear work instructions and quality documentation that meet specification and process requirements.
  • Experience training others and operating standard inspection tools and basic testing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of measurement and inspection instruments, including calipers, height gauges, radius gauges, dial indicators, and blueprints, as well as familiarity with ISO-based quality systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with ERP systems such as Business Central preferred.
  • Understanding of bills of materials (BOMs), production planning concepts, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Strong organizational and process-oriented mindset with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize work in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing/production environments.
  • Use of standard office equipment, inspection tools, and measurement devices is required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, or steel-toe footwear, may be required in designated areas.
  • Standard business hours are typical, with occasional extended hours to support production schedules, audits, or customer requirements.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and walk throughout the facility as needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move materials or equipment up to approximately 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) sufficient to inspect parts, read drawings, measurements, and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
