Microsoft D365 Consulting Director
HuronAbout the Role
This is a founding, entrepreneurial leadership role with a mandate to build the India Global Delivery Center for Huron's Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain practice from the ground up. This is not a role designed to inherit an established model — it is being created to define one. From the first wave of hires and the delivery operating model to the AI enablement charter, the Microsoft partner relationship from Bengaluru, and the leadership cadence with the U.S. practice, this role will be instrumental in shaping the foundation, direction, and long-term success of the India capability.
You will own the build. Success in this role will require deep experience across the Microsoft Dynamics ecosystem, particularly in Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain, along with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves builder mentality. The leader in this position must be equally comfortable setting strategy and executing against it — establishing structure where none exists, solving delivery and talent challenges in real time, and partnering closely with core U.S. Dynamics Business Solutions leaders and adjacent practices to create a globally integrated, high-performing model.
While direct profit and loss ownership resides with the DMA–Microsoft Practice in the U.S., this role will serve as one of the most significant contributors to P&L performance. The India Practice Lead will influence outcomes through utilization, gross margin discipline, recovery on fixed-fee engagements, new-hire ramp economics, attrition management, and the AI-driven productivity gains that can be captured and reflected in deal pricing and delivery model in support of Global Dynamics opportunities and programs. This leader will play an active role in forecasting, own the India inputs to margin and performance reviews, and is expected to bring a well-informed point of view grounded in operational and commercial realities.
Key Responsibilities
- Stand up the India D365 F&SCM delivery center from zero — defining the org design, capacity model, role architecture, and ramp plan for the first 30+ hires across functional, technical, AI, PM, and QA streams.
- Serve as the senior-most contributor to US practice P&L conversations — driving utilization targets, bench economics, fixed-fee recovery, and AI-enabled productivity assumptions into the operating plan.
- Own the AI enablement charter for the India practice: define the AI-first delivery standard, sponsor the agent and Copilot IP library, and ensure every project plan reflects AI-driven effort reduction and quality lift.
- Build and personally curate the Microsoft Partner relationship from Bengaluru — co-sell motions, Cloud Solution Provider hygiene, designation maintenance (Solutions Partner for Business Applications), and Inner Circle / Top Partner positioning.
- Set and enforce the delivery quality bar across all India-led workstreams: solution design reviews, code review standards, AI agent validation gates, go-live readiness criteria, and post-go-live hypercare governance.
- Lead executive-level client conversations alongside US partners and engagement leaders — particularly during pursuit, steering committees, escalations, and renewal discussions.
- Drive the talent strategy end-to-end: employer brand in the Bengaluru market, university partnerships, lateral hiring through executive search, internal mobility, and a deliberate attrition cost model that reflects 60–90 day notice realities.
- Establish the India practice's external thought leadership posture — published POVs, conference speaking, Microsoft community contributions, and an MVP-track development pipeline among senior consultants.
- Own the operating cadence with US leadership: weekly delivery reviews, monthly margin and utilization reviews, quarterly strategy and AI roadmap alignment, and annual planning.
- Build the AI-forward consulting muscle across the team — sponsoring Copilot Studio guilds, MCP server pattern libraries, Azure AI Foundry experimentation budgets, and a quarterly AI build sprint.
- Personally engage on the most strategic deals as solution sponsor, lending architectural and business credibility to pursuit and steering conversations.
- Govern responsible AI adoption across all client work — including data residency, Microsoft Responsible AI Standard adherence, and customer-facing AI risk disclosures.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Total experience: 15+ years in enterprise applications, with 8+ years in Microsoft Dynamics AX / D365 F&O.
- Leadership: 5+ years in leadership roles (practice/delivery/competency head) managing 25+ consultants.
- P&L management: Proven exposure to practice-level P&L metrics (utilization, margin, recovery).
- Implementations: Hands-on experience in minimum 4 full-lifecycle D365 F&SCM implementations.
- Industry expertise: Across at least two domains: manufacturing, distribution, or financial services/insurance.
- Global delivery experience: Experience in scaling or setting up global delivery centers is a strong advantage.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (required); MBA preferred; CA/CPA is a plus.
- Mandatory certifications: MB-300, MB-700 (or in progress), and one of MB-310/330/335; AI-102 required/within 6 months.
- Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of D365 F&SCM modules and ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs.
- Power Platform & Azure: Expertise in Power Platform, Azure services, Dataverse, and cloud security models.
- Delivery methodologies: Deep understanding of delivery methodologies (FastTrack, Success by Design, Agile ERP delivery).
- Commercial acumen: SOWs, pricing models, margins, and AI-influenced deal economics.
- Resource planning: Capability in portfolio-level resource planning and capacity modeling.
- AI leadership: Defining AI-first delivery, governing Copilot ecosystem, driving ROI, and managing AI risks.
- Leadership and soft skills: Executive presence, stakeholder engagement, team building, storytelling, and operating effectively in global/matrix environments.
