Manager, Data Management & Governance

About the Role

The Manager, Data Management & Governance sits within the Customer Platforms Strategy team in the Go-To-Market organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the firm's Customer Platforms data is accurate, complete, and reliable by establishing the governance standards, data quality processes, and operating model that allow commercial platforms to serve as a trustworthy foundation for client master data, pipeline reporting, and firm-wide integrations.

The Customer Platforms team is the function within the Go-To-Market organization responsible for the strategy, governance, and operational performance of the firm's customer technology ecosystem. Data & Governance is a dedicated function within this team focused on making sure the data that powers customer platforms is fit for purpose across all downstream uses, including ERP integration, growth performance reporting, and onboarding of teams joining the Grant Thornton Advisors network.

This role partners closely with Platform Operations and the COE within Customer Platforms, as well as go-to-market, marketing, commercial, IT, and other relevant firm functions.

Day to Day Responsibilities

Own Data Quality and Integrity

  • Establish and maintain data quality standards, monitoring processes, and remediation workflows across the firm's CRM
  • Oversee the collection, preparation, and validation of data from multiple sources including acquisitions, business units, and legacy systems
  • Manage record matching against the global client list and lead deduplication and enrichment processes
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues, working with Platform Operations and business stakeholders to address root causes
  • Ensure CRM data meets the quality standards required to support ERP integration, growth performance reporting, and pipeline visibility

Build and Run the Data Governance Function

  • Define and enforce Customer Platforms data governance policies, compliance requirements, and data standards that adhere to the firm's data governance policies and compliance requirements
  • Establish proactive monitoring and remediation workflows that prevent data issues before they affect downstream reporting
  • Own the customer platform's data governance framework ensuring it is documented, maintained, and applied consistently across the platform
  • Partner with Platform Operations and the COE and the firm's Data Governance team to align governance practices with platform operations and enablement activity
  • Report on data quality metrics and governance compliance to the Director

Support Data Integration for Onboarding and M&A

  • Partner with the COE and Platform Operations on data discovery for firms and teams joining the GT network including acquisitions, new market entries, and firm expansions
  • Define data requirements and quality standards that incoming teams must meet before integration onto the global customer platform
  • Validate and prepare incoming data for migration, ensuring records are clean, matched, and enriched before loading into the CRM
  • Maintain data onboarding frameworks that support consistent, repeatable integration regardless of the size or complexity of the incoming team

Partner Across the Firm

  • Work alongside go-to-market, marketing, commercial, and IT to align data standards and support cross-functional data needs
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on CRM data quality and governance in cross-functional discussions
  • Partner with Data Analysts on the team to coordinate data preparation, matching, and monitoring work
  • Contribute to the broader Customer Platforms roadmap by ensuring data readiness keeps pace with platform and business evolution

Required Experience

What You've Done

  • 6+ years in data management, data governance, CRM operations, or a related data-focused role
  • Built or formalized a data governance function, framework, or set of operating standards
  • Managed data quality processes including deduplication, enrichment, record matching, and master data management
  • Operated as a data owner or governance lead for a CRM platform (Dynamics 365 or equivalent)
  • Supported M&A data integration or systems migration work, including managing data from legacy or third-party sources
  • Working knowledge of data query tools (SQL or equivalent) to investigate, validate, and audit data independently
  • Hands-on experience working within CRM data environments such as Microsoft Dataverse or equivalent
  • Ability to assess and map data structures from source systems including legacy or third-party platforms against target data models
  • Experience or familiarity with global data privacy requirements
  • Worked in or alongside professional services, financial advisory, or a similarly complex matrixed organization

What Sets You Apart

  • You understand that bad data is a business problem, not just a technical one and you know how to make that case to senior stakeholders
  • You bring structure and rigor to environments where data has historically been managed informally
  • You are a collaborative partner who builds trust across platform, IT, and go-to-market teams
  • You can translate data complexity into clear business language without losing the substance
  • You are technical enough to get into the data yourself when needed, and business-savvy enough to know when the findings matter
  • You are detail-oriented and accountable, you hold yourself and the work to a high standard
  • You are comfortable building from scratch and thrive in environments where you define what good looks like
  • Professional services or financial advisory background preferred
