Manager of Estimating — Precision Manufacturing

This role provides technical support for gas delivery components for both standard and custom applications, with responsibility for cost-estimating and development of quotations and technical proposals.

Functions & Responsibilities

  • Manage Estimation Team Globally
  • Review blueprints, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare quotations or projected increases in production from customers' use of proposed equipment or services
  • Draw up or propose changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services which would result in cost reduction or improvement in operations
  • Provide technical services to clients relating to use, operation, and maintenance of components
  • Interface effectively with engineering, planning, and manufacturing departments on various issues concerning product specifications
  • Work with current suppliers and develop new outsource partners as needed to reduce costs of purchased goods
  • Develop cost analysis once product ships to determine if projected goals have been met
  • Utilize company software and other means to develop costs, product structure, and routings to ensure manufacturability
  • Interface directly with customers providing pre- and post-sales support
  • Help develop quoting process standards and coordinate validation of outcome once jobs are closed
  • Manage projects, providing directions to engineering, planning, and manufacturing departments on issues concerning product specifications
  • Develop technical documentation as needed in support of catalog, web, and technical manual publications
  • Attend trade shows as required
  • Propose manufacturing process, material size, and/or outside process to reduce cost and improve lead time
  • Work directly with engineering, planning, production, sales, and finance
  • Perform cost analysis and reconciliation of estimated cost to actual cost
  • Understand statement of work provided by the customer and ensure quote abides by these specifications
  • Write statement of work documents and understand deviations and exceptions

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of semiconductor and vacuum industry standards, practices, applications, and requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic fabrication practices (machining and welding)
  • Microsoft Office skills are mandatory. Must be proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or related discipline, or a combination of education and related work experience
  • 5–7 years of experience handling the responsibilities outlined above
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is preferred and beneficial in candidate selection
