
Division Billing Analyst

This is a multi-functional position responsible for following all processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely invoicing within specified deadlines. The role involves researching and analyzing using facts and data to ensure accurate invoice production, application of rates and prices for company revenue transactions while adhering to company and railroad industry accounting rules and standards. The person will work to build relationships and liaison between Sales & Marketing, External & Internal Customers, Regional staff, Operations and Crew.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various departments and regional staff to ensure accurate data is captured within systems to maximize revenue and minimize expense exposure
- Conduct audits of waybills confirming accurate capture of revenue and expenses associated with the maneuvers of the operations of the railroad
- Advise and provide remedial recommendations to other departments when waybill, equipment movement history and/or rate discrepancies are identified
- Maintain customer accounts including investigation of payment discrepancies
- Investigate unrated transactions in ISS and communicate with internal teams for resolution
- Interpret and understand railroad contracts related to application of rates
- Cross train with Commercial Support to assist in the TMS charge code maintenance
- Monitor for proper funds settlement with other railroads
- Assist in the closing procedures of monthly revenue accounts
- Perform other tasks as directed, including special projects
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills, with emphasis in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to quickly learn PowerBI, CRM, Advance Analytics, and other data related tools
- Experience with pricing, tariffs, commercial regulations, and marketing
- In-depth understanding of interline settlement (ISS) and railroad accounting rules & procedures
- TMS and RMS or similar systems experience highly preferred
- Knowledge or use of Rate EDI Network (REN), RailConnect Contract Management (RCM)
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Knowledge of D365 a plus
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple activities to meet deadlines
Required Education and Credentials
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
