About the Role
We are seeking a part‑time Business Development Associate to support outbound prospecting efforts and database (CRM) management. This role will work closely with Highland's business development and consulting teams to help identify, engage, and track prospective clients. This role is the first step in building trusted advisory relationships and supports Highland's ability to connect with organizations to provide guidance that strengthens their financial plans and long-term financial objectives.
This position is well‑suited for someone who is comfortable with structured outreach, detail‑oriented data management, and contributing to scalable business development processes.
Responsibilities
- Support outbound prospecting efforts through email outreach and cold‑calling to prospective clients and centers of influence
- Assist with the generation, qualification, and tracking of leads in support of new business initiatives
- Maintain and update CRM and related business development systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency
- Help establish and follow repeatable outreach and data management processes to improve prospecting efficiency
- Coordinate with consultants and business development leaders to support follow‑up activities and next steps
- Contribute to reporting and analysis of prospecting metrics, such as outreach activity, response rates, and pipeline status
- Assist with preparing or proofreading basic business development materials, as needed
Requirements
- Associate's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in business development or sales support within a professional services firm
- Demonstrated experience with outbound prospecting, including phone‑based outreach and professional email campaigns
- Experience working with CRM systems (MS Dynamics 365 a plus)
- Ability to leverage AI tools to support efficient outreach, research, content drafting, and CRM/data workflows, with appropriate judgment and attention to data quality/confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage and maintain accurate data
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team

- Preferred experience: Prior exposure to institutional investing, retirement plans, or employee benefits is helpful but not required
