Legal AI Analyst

About the Role

Serves as the hands-on builder and tester of AI-powered tools and automations that support global legal workflows. Working within the Microsoft ecosystem (Copilot Studio, Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI), this role translates legal process needs into working agents, automated workflows, and structured data solutions. The Legal AI Analyst is embedded within Legal Operations and partners directly with attorneys, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to identify friction, prototype solutions, test with users, and iterate toward reliable, production-ready tools. This is not a traditional IT or developer role — it requires someone who understands how legal teams work and can bridge that understanding into practical AI and automation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify process inefficiencies, pain points, and opportunities where AI, automation, or workflow improvements can deliver value.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to turn business requirements from legal and compliance into functional AI, automation, and technology solutions.
  • Build and test AI agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio to support legal workflows such as contract intake, document Q&A, regulatory monitoring, clause extraction, and invoice review.
  • Design and maintain workflows in Power Automate to automate routing, approvals, reminders, escalation logic, and data movement between legal systems and SharePoint.
  • Connect legal data sources (including SharePoint libraries, Dataverse, and legal system outputs) to AI agents and automation flows, ensuring agents are grounded in accurate, permissioned data.
  • Develop and refine prompts for AI agents and Copilot tools, iterating on prompt engineering to improve accuracy, consistency, and reliability of outputs across legal use cases.
  • Conduct user testing and collect feedback from attorneys, compliance professionals, and legal support staff to validate AI tool accuracy, usability, and business value. Document findings and iterate.
  • Create playbooks, templates, and user guides that enable legal team members to adopt AI tools confidently including prompt libraries, "how to get started" guides, and use case documentation.
  • Support the Legal Tech & AI Board intake process by documenting new use case submissions, preparing summary materials, and tracking project status on the roadmap.
  • Maintain and update existing agents and automations post-deployment, including prompt tuning, data source updates, bug fixes, and performance monitoring.
  • Assist with data collection and reporting on AI tool adoption, usage metrics, and early-stage ROI indicators using Power BI and SharePoint.
  • Participate in enablement activities such as workshops, office hours, and peer support for legal teams experimenting with Copilot and Power Platform tools.

Who You Are

  • You readily action new challenges, without unnecessary planning.
  • You achieve gained trust and support of others.
  • You deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes.
  • You effectively communicate in various settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in legal operations, business analysis, process improvement, or legal technology support
  • Hands-on experience or demonstrated aptitude with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) and/or Copilot Studio
  • Familiarity with SharePoint as a data source, document library, and collaboration platform
  • Strong understanding of legal workflows like contract lifecycle, compliance processes, matter management, or similar
  • Comfort with prompt engineering concepts and iterative testing of AI outputs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to document processes, write user guides, and explain technical concepts to non-technical legal audiences
  • Detail-oriented with a bias toward action and continuous improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, legal studies, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with legal technology platforms (CLM, eBilling, compliance tools) preferred

Note: No formal coding or computer science degree required — curiosity, structured thinking, and willingness to learn are prioritized over deep technical credentials.
